On October 9, 2018, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province granted a license to Phu Quoc Expressway Joint Stock Company (PQE) to invest in a high-speed ferry project to operate the Vung Tau - Vung Tau route. Con DaoThis is the Vung Tau-Con Dao route with the most modern high-speed boats at present.
Previously in May, PQE reported to the leaders of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province about the investment policy for the Vung Tau – Con Dao high-speed ferry route. Accordingly, since the end of 2017, PQE has started construction of the Con Dao Express high-speed catamaran at Shipyard 189 under the Ministry of National Defense.
With design catamaran modern according to European standards, 46.8m long, 12.2m wide, 4.25m high, total capacity 7402 horsepower, maximum speed 35 nautical miles/hour, the inside of the ship is equipped with luxurious, comfortable interiors and 5« quality service. In addition, the ship can operate in harsh weather conditions. In particular, the expected time for the Vung Tau - Con Dao route is 3 hours with a capacity of up to 600 passengers/ship trip.
Con Dao Express ship is expected to depart from Cau Da port - Vung Tau city.
To Ben Dam port - Con Dao district and vice versa.
Con Dao Express ship is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2019.
