UPDATE 01:20 PM RESURRECTION OF OPERATIONS - ANNOUNCEMENT: Temporarily suspending the operation of the Rach Gia-Phu Quoc and Ha Tien-Phu Quoc routes on July 14, 2024 due to bad weather in the Kien Giang sea area.

(Update - at 1:20 p.m. - Phu Quoc Express's Ha Tien-Phu Quoc and Rach Gia-Phu Quoc routes have resumed operations to pick up and drop off passengers on the afternoon of July 14, 2024. We plan to increase trips this afternoon to serve people returning to the mainland)

Due to the influence of the weather, a tropical depression is currently operating in the southwest sea of the Hoang Sa archipelago. This form is moving northwest at a speed of 5-10 km/h towards the central provinces in the coming days and may strengthen into a storm. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that today, July 14, the whole country will have rain. From this afternoon, many places will have heavy to very heavy rain, strong waves with waves 2-4m high. Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the sea area west of the area between the East Sea and the sea areas southwest of the North East Sea (including the sea area of the Hoang Sa archipelago) will have showers and strong thunderstorms, strong winds of level 6, then increasing to level 7, gusting to level 9, rough seas.

The sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, the South East Sea area (including the sea area of Truong Sa archipelago) has strong winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9. The sea area from Ca Mau to Kien Giang, the Gulf of Thailand has strong winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7. The situation at sea in the area with strong winds of 49 km/h and high waves at sea will continue in the coming days. All ships operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong winds and high waves.

On the evening of July 13, the low pressure area in the East Sea strengthened into a tropical depression. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requested coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan, and provinces affected by the tropical depression, to proactively respond to dangerous weather at sea and widespread heavy rain. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities, ministries and branches to strictly implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 67/CD-TTg dated July 13; Document No. 4972/BNN-DD dated July 12 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and at the same time properly implement a number of contents on Search and Rescue in emergency cases.
