ENJOY YOURSELF IN HON SON ISLAND WITH SUGGESTIONS FROM PHU QUOC EXPRESS

Take the speedboat to Hon Son to explore Ma Thien Lanh mountain

"Standing by the bridge in the afternoon listening to the waves

The golden autumn sun shines on the shore

How beautiful Kien Giang is!”

These are the first three sentences that Phu Quoc Express quoted from the lyrics of the song Kien Giang How Beautiful Are You by author Le Giang, describing the charming natural beauty of Kien Giang. It is indeed true! Kien Giang province owns many beautiful islands located in the Gulf of Thailand with more than 100 large and small islands. Among them, some islands have become famous tourist destinations that are extremely popular with tourists such as: Phu Quoc island, Nam Du island, Hon Son island, etc.

In today's introduction, Phu Quoc Express will suggest you places to eat and play on Hon Son Island! Hon Son is known as an island located in the same area as two famous tourist islands, Phu Quoc and Nam Du. However, because Hon Son is smaller than the other two islands, it has not been exploited for tourism much. Therefore, Hon Son Island still retains its natural pristine features. With its wild beauty, blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine and immense green mountains and forests, Hon Son has become an ideal tourist and resort destination. Very suitable for those who want to book a speedboat ticket for a short trip to explore nature.

Ong Nam Hai Palace in Hon Son:

Dinh Ong Nam Hai, also known as Dinh Than Nam Hai, is located right at the entrance of Thien Tue beach. Like other islands in Vietnam, Hon Son island also worships the god Nam Hai. In the beliefs of the islanders, Ong Nam Hai is the one who blesses the sea voyages to always be safe, overcome storms and bring back a full catch of shrimp and fish.

The custom of worshipping Whale is a typical cultural activity of the local people and has existed for more than 100 years. Every year on the 15th and 16th of the 10th lunar month, the people of Hon Son Island solemnly organize the Hon Son Whale Festival to express their gratitude for the support of the Whale and the ancestors who opened this land. During the festival, people pray for favorable weather and hope for a smooth business at sea. It is also an opportunity for people to summarize their sea trips during the year. The Hon Son Whale Festival is one of the most important festivals of the year for the people of Hon Son Island, who mainly live by fishing. Therefore, from the 14th of the lunar month, most fishing boats, even those fishing far out at sea, gather to attend the festival and participate in the parade. This makes the ports around the island in the middle of the sea become bustling and crowded with boats.

The palace is located on a rocky hill jutting out into the sea, on the left hand side of the entrance is Bai Thien Tue. Right in front of the palace, looking to the right hand side is Bai Gieng, creating a beautiful natural landscape. When visiting Ong Nam Hai Palace, Phu Quoc Express encourages you to stop and take photos to commemorate your trip to check-in that you have arrived here!

Ma Thien Lanh Mountain in Hon Son:

Ma Thien Lanh is the highest peak of Hon Son island. With an altitude of 450m above sea level, this place is also associated with colorful and supernatural fairy tales.

“Ma Thien Lanh” roughly translates to “ghost land”, or “territory” of demons, people from the other world. It is called this because this place is often associated with strange spiritual stories that are passed down from person to person. Ma Thien Lanh in Hon Son also has another name, “Mai Thien Lanh”, because in the past there were many monkeys on the mountain, meaning that monkeys rule the high mountain, hence the name Mai Thien Lanh. But over many generations, tourists have gotten used to calling it Ma Thien Lanh, so later the mountain was named Ma Thien Lanh.

The road to Ma Thien Lanh is quite difficult, only 1/3 of the first part of the road has stairs to go. The remaining part of the road is mainly a small trail, with dense trees interspersed with the cries of animals such as birds, gibbons, etc. around. Go a little further and you will see a cave, according to the islanders, this cave is where monks hide to meditate. To reach the top, we have to enter the cave and continue climbing. The most necessary item when going through the cave that Phu Quoc Express recommends you should equip is a flashlight, because the cave is very dark and bumpy with all the rocks and rocks. Passing through this cave, you will reach the top of the mountain.

Reaching the top of the mountain, all your efforts will be rewarded. Standing on the large rocks in the middle of Ma Thien Lanh peak, you can gaze out at the vast, deep blue space of the sea and sky.

Unnamed waterfall in Hon Son:

To reach this unnamed waterfall, Phu Quoc Express departs from the center of the island. It takes 5 to 10 minutes by motorbike to get close to the waterfall. The road to the waterfall curves along the mountainside and is surrounded by layers of green trees. Along the way to the waterfall, you will easily see images of goats and other herbivores happily lying in the sun on the side of the road.

When you set foot on the waterfall, standing before the beautiful natural scenery, you will inevitably feel the same feeling of excitement as Phu Quoc Express did at this moment. From the top of the waterfall, a large stream of clear water flows through each successive stone step. Creating tiny bubbles that splash out like a layer of mist.

Tourists and locals often visit the waterfall to cool off or sit and enjoy the natural scenery and listen to the birds singing. This is also an extremely interesting experience that makes you feel like you are completely immersed in the beautiful nature around.
