Volcanic lava meets seawater and solidifies to form rocks with interesting shapes called To Vo Gate. According to geologists, To Vo Gate is millions of years old. In addition, experts have discovered another stone arch deep under the sea. This stone arch is located in the sea about 1 nautical mile from Be Island. The length of this stone gate is nearly 100m and is 8 times larger than the arch on land. This is one of the Famous check-in locations in Ly Son.

Gieng Tien Crater
One of the most prominent craters in Ly Son is the Gieng Tien crater. The crater is hundreds of meters wide and about 106 meters high, leaning to the North. The crater is estimated to date back about 1 million years. When viewed from above, the crater looks like a giant pan rising between the sea and sky. Gieng Tien crater and Thoi Loi crater are two Ly Son craters ranked as two national historical relics by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The cliffs with many unique shapes of the Gieng Tien crater, combined with the blue sea, have created a unique landscape painting on Ly Son Island. Stretching out are the Hang Cau and Chua Hang cliffs. These cliffs are estimated to have great value in terms of geological science.

Thoi Loi Crater
Located next to the Gieng Tien crater is the Thoi Loi crater, about 500 meters from the center of the island district. From the foot of Thoi Loi mountain, visitors can ride a motorbike or walk up the concrete road a few hundred meters along the foot of Thoi Loi mountain to the top. Thoi Loi crater is 169 meters above sea level and has a diameter of 0.35 km. This is considered the highest mountain peak on Ly Son island.
Standing on the top of Thoi Loi mountain, visitors can observe the whole Ly Son island within 10km. The crater has an eruption date of about 1 million years ago. Surrounding the crater is a vegetation covered with deep green pine forest, contributing to creating a clean atmosphere for the entire Ly Son island area.

During the rainy season, the depression of the mountain top acts as a freshwater reservoir for Ly Son Island. This basin can hold 270 m3 and is one of the main sources of freshwater for the island. Standing on the top, you can easily see the famous garlic fields of Ly Son and Duc Pagoda with 2-3m high waves, bringing excitement to visitors. The vapor from the lake evaporates, creating beautiful white clouds like a fairyland.

How to get to Ly Son to explore the craters?
Currently, Ly Son Island has not yet been exploited by air, so the main means of transportation to get to the island is by speedboat. To get to Ly Son, you first need to book a flight to Chu Lai airport in Quang Ngai. After landing at Chu Lai airport. You can travel to Sa Ky port, about 60km away.
